Professor of Physiology and Director of the Research Group on Community Nutrition and Oxidative Stress at the University of the Balearic Islands, the CIBEROBN (Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition) of the Carlos III Health Institute and the Health Research Institute of the Balearic Islands (IDISBA). Co-director of the UIB’s Master in Nutrition and Human Food, and the UIB’s PhD programs in Nutrition and Food Sciences, and in Human Nutrition and Associated Pathologies. Corresponding academic of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy of Spain, of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia, and of the Kingdom of Aragon Pharmacy Academy, founding academic of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) from 2015 to 2018. Member of the Autonomous Food Safety Council of the Balearic Islands. Member of Nutrition Board of the Official College of Pharmacists of the Balearic Islands. Member of the Scientific Committee and Governing Board of the National Nutrition Board of the General Council of Official Colleges of Pharmacists of Spain. Editor of the Declaration of the Mediterranean Diet as Intangible Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO, 2010). Author of more than 460 scientific articles, 65 books and chapters, Principal Investigator of more than 54 research projects and 8 application patents and director of 38 doctoral theses.
