HYGIEIA will accept candidates from areas related to pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, nutrition, sports, biochemistry, chemistry, biology or other health and life science related areas. Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, even if it is outside the areas of health, which is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the statutory competent scientific body, can also be accepted.
The programme will admit a total of 21 students per intake, including one student with special needs.
The following requirements must be fulfilled by all applicants.
Required documents
For the admission procedure, students are required to submit:
- Curriculum vitae - must provide professional qualification(s), experience, professional skills.- maximum 5 pages (PDF).
- Two or three Letters of Recommendation. These do not have to follow a template. The only requirements is that the contact details of the person providing the reference must be clearly typed, must be signed and if possible should contain a business email address and a telephone number. (PDF)
- Letter of motivation that expresses interest in studying at HYGIEIA - maximum 750 words, including three sections: a) why you are applying; b) what are your expectations concerning the master, c) how do you see your future after master conclusion (PDF)
- Academic certificate -It should also contain the University stamp. If in other language than in English, additional officially certified translation into English is obligatory.- Maximum 5 pages (PDF)
- Copy of passport/identification card (This should be an official identification document including a photograph and personal data like first name, surname and date and place of birth. This data should be described in English language -like in passports. We recommend that the expiration date covers the duration of the entire master). (PDF)
- Proof of proficiency in English language (IELTS 6.0, British Council First Certificate in English); (PDF) We can accept other tests; however, please note that we prioritize students with a strong command of the English language. During the interview, which is conducted for candidates who rank higher in the cumulative assessment, these language skills will be thoroughly evaluated. See other details in the FAQ section.
- Documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a translation into English, certified by the issuer, a sworn translator or notary.
- Recent head-shot photograph.
Students who apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship should also submit a Portfolio containing the following information:
- overview of education, indicating the higher educational institution, field of study, degree obtained and the theme of the graduation work/project;
- work experience, including the name of all employers of the past five years, job titles, duration of employment and description of the position and its responsibilities;
- language skills;
- digital skills;
- maximum 5 best indicators done during the bachelor studies or workshops/internship/personal projects accompanied by very brief description (100 words per indicator);
- other activities and hobbies.
Selection
Eligible applications will be evaluated by the Selection Committee according to the following criteria:
- CV: Carrying a 30% weight, this criterion assesses the applicant's background in the H&W field, prior research experience, professional background, and proficiency in digital tools and soft skills;
- Motivation letter: Assigned a 10% weight, it is crucial to understand the applicant's aspirations and commitment;
- Grade of Previous Studies: This criterion, with a 15% weight, evaluates the academic performance of the candidate in their prior studies;
- Letters of Recommendation: Holding a 10% weight, letters of recommendation provide valuable insights into the applicant's character and capabilities;
- Interview conducted in English: With the highest weight at 35%, the interview is a mandatory phase for candidates who rank higher in the cumulative assessment of other criteria. This interview aims to evaluate academic skills and interpersonal competences.
The Selection Board will also score students who apply for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
Scholarships are allocated based on an overall score, determined as the arithmetic mean between the % score achieved in the admission phase and the % classification of the portfolio.
Sixteen scholarships will be attributed per intake.
Scholarships
Candidates are eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (1400€/month + tuition fee waiver), awarded on the basis of excellence (see application process).
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship will cover the total tuition fee and will guarantee a monthly allowance of 1.400€ for the duration of the academic activities and/or maximum of 24 months, to cover installation, travel and subsistence costs.
Sixteen scholarships will be attributed per intake.
Candidates eligible for scholarships are students who have obtained a primary higher-education degree or can demonstrate a recognised equivalent according to national legislation and practices of the degree awarding country.
Students who have previously obtained an EMJM scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional scholarship under the EMJM.
Erasmus+ scholarship holders cannot benefit from another EU funded scholarship scheme to follow the same EMJM course. This holds for the entire period of the course.
Students with a double nationality must specify the nationality under which they submit their scholarship application.
Students with disabilities (e.g. long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments) can apply for additional funding for as special needs provided by the Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Union.
Tuition fees
What is included in participation fees?
The tuition fee for the HYGIEIA master is 4,500 € per semester.
The fee includes participation in all classes offered within HYGIEIA’s curriculum; emergency and accident insurance according to the minimum requirements of the Erasmus+ Programme, support in administrative and organisational issues by the consortium partners, costs for enrolment at the consortium partner’s institutions, all examinations and the issue of the final diploma.
What is not included in the participation fees?
The participation costs/tuition fees do not cover travel costs from country of origin, travel costs required for the mobility ( travel documents (passport, visas), accommodation and living expenses, or other costs (e.g. study books, stationery, photocopies, etc.).
Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders are exempt from paying a tuition fee.
