Catarina Rosado is the HYGIEIA coordinator and the course director at Lusófona University. She is currently Associate Professor, conducting her research at CBIOS, leading the Formulation Strategies and Nanosolutions research domain.
She has received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology at Cardiff University, UK.
Her research is focused on the study of the impact of formulations on transcutaneous penetration and also in the development of non-invasive in vivo strategies to assess efficacy and safety of innovative ingredients for topical drugs and cosmetics. Catarina is also interested in the impact of topicals and nutrition on human skin, namely on barrier function, skin pathologies and ageing. One of her main passions is promoting health literacy regarding cosmetics, helping consumers make informed decisions and providing science-based knowledge to various stakeholders (industry, doctors, regulators or patient associations).
